This makes for a great community for first time home buyers and move up buyers. Each community has its own community association with a board of directors, and all fall under the umbrella Copperfield Community Association. The residents of the villages not only have access to their own neighborhood amenities but also the 10 acre community park which is equipped with playgrounds, baseball fields, picnic areas, an exercise/running track, a covered pavilion and community center.
The villages in Copperfield are comprised of Copper Lakes, Copper Village, Copperfield Middlegate Village, Copperfield Northmead Village, Copperfield Place Village, Copperfield Southcreek Village, Copperfield Southdown Village, Copperfield Southpoint, Copperfield Westcreek Village, Copperfield Wheatstone Village, Copperfield Wheatstone Village Cloverfield, Sommerall West, and Easton Commons. Each village has its own amenities which include 24 hour security patrol, jogging trails, greenbelts, pools, parks and tennis courts to name a few. Copperfield offers a small town feel with its local shopping, churches and social groups.
Copperfield was developed by Friendswood Development, a company that created a lasting and stable foundation. They purchased 1,796 acres from the Gus Wortham estate in 1977. The first sections were completed in 1978/1979. Due to the success of the community Friendswood purchased an additional 260 acres to continue building the masterplanned community into the next decade. Friendswood Development completed their work in the mid 1990's, when Standard Pacific of Texas started work on the last of the thirteen villages. Copperfield Place Village was completed in 2003 which completed the masterplanned community.
The masterplanned community is believed to have faired well during these economic hard times because of it's location. It is in walking distance of businesses, restaurants, large and small retailers plus easy access to U.S. 290 and Beltway 8. The property values have continue to stay stable because of tax rates below other newer community's, well constructed homes, residents pride in ownership by maintaining their homes and yards and the strict enforcement of the commercial deed restrictions. The commercial areas were carefully crafted with regulations include nice monument signs, pushed back shopping areas to allow trees and greenery to grow.
